Lynn not only excels in visual and information design but also is skilled at conceptualizing, and at constructing the architecture and programming that make a site flexible, scalable and useful.

Good Design Is Invisible

"It's more than just a pretty face. While first impressions count, good design is also about the things you don't see. The process begins before the first pixel is drawn on the screen or the first line of programming code is ever written. That requires the experience and ability to analyze, organize, design, understand the interactions users face and an excellent grasp the full range of Internet technologies, tactics and back-end processes. Sites that look great, are easy to navigate, and use the right technical solution have a far better chance of making a sale than those that are filled with programming bells and whistles that don't enhance the marketing message, or take into account long range business goals. Good design simply works well."

With over 15 years professional experience in Business Communications Design, Creative Direction and Project Management along with 8 years of serious programming experience, Barbara successfully bridges the gap between design, technology and business like few others can.

Expanding Knowledge Continuum.

Barbara describes pivotal points in her professional career as the day when she first used a graphics computer, and the one where she realized she had an aptitude for interactive programming. I was working in traditional Print Media at the time. "It opened the door to another dimension: Multi-Media."

Corporate multi-media presentations and interactive Shockwave and Flash CD ROM projects were just the beginning. Not one to let grass grow under her feet, she recently completed a two-year program in Internet Programming at New York University's Information Technology Department, achieving a Professional Java Developer Certificate. In her spare time she takes online courses to keep up with all the latest tech trends.

Walking On Water.

Barbara Lynn, the recipient of several graphic and website design awards, has created major multi-media and pre-Internet projects for clients which include Pfizer, Sony, Citibank, Colgate Palmolive, TIAA-CREF, Conde Nast, Burson Marstellar, Regent Hospital and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to name a few. Internet successes included projects for U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Watermark Designs, New York Connect, Geoffrey Beene, Historic Films, JewelBasket and Bikekinetix.com.

She has long been fascinated with what makes things work, and says she was a toddler when she became fascinated with her Navy structural engineer father's blueprints and schematics for the design of a sonar casing for the hull of a submarine. The two also talked about building shoes that would let people walk on water, a toy they envisioned as the hottest beach toy of the century.

 

Footnote: Lynn loves to make people laugh and will literally stand on her head to do so. Besides being an avid mountain biker, she's a travel writer, fossil hunter and fervent reader of science fiction and the bios of adventurers. She and her husband and business partner, Peter, an Illustrator and Fine Artist, live and work in Manhattan.
